New Feature: Audio

We've launched a new audio feature in BeaconSage that allows you to add audio clips to your pages, and it's already being implemented by such organizations as Garvan Woodland Gardens in Hot Springs, AR for their guided tour, sharing more information about the different plants that appear during the seasons, and by Questers of Arkansas, for their Toys of Yesteryear exhibit at the Hillary Rodham Clinton Children’s Library in Little Rock, AR.

Check out the video above to see how to add audio to your pages and reference the step-by-step guide below:

  • Make a Recording
    • Complete the recording on your phone.
    • Save the file with no spaces or special characters.
  • Host the Recording Online
    • Send the file from your phone to a remote hosting service, like Google Drive or DropBox.

    • Send file from phone to yourself and save on your hard-drive.
    • Log into BeaconSage.
    • Upload file into Media.
  • Prepare Your Audio Code Snippet
    • Open/view the uploaded file and copy the path to the file.
    • Input that path into your code template.
      • Choose the correct template based on the appropriate file type.
      • Replace the text within these quotes (“/link/to/media") with the correct file path:

M4A (saved from Android, typically)

<audio controls="controls" style="width: 100%;">
<source src="/link/to/media.m4a" type="audio/mp4" />
Sorry your browser does not support audio clips.

MP3 (saved from iPhone, typically)

<audio controls="controls" style="width: 100%;">
<source src="/link/to/media.mp3" type="audio/mp3" /> Sorry your browser does not support audio clips.

  • Add Your Audio Code Snippet to Your Site
    • Access the PAGE or CARD to which you wish to add the audio.
    • Using the Rich Text Editor, launch the [<>] Source Code view and Copy/Paste your code snippet at the desired location and click OK. You should see the player.
    • Save & Publish.
